About Maddy

Hi! I am Maddy, a fourth year university student studying international politics. Having previously worked in tutoring, I grew to enjoy helping others succeed through patience and hard work. Despite not studying maths at university, I achieved a 9 at GCSE and an A* at A-Level and thoroughly enjoy the subject! I have learnt the importance of tutors taking into account their students' learning style and personality. This is why I aim to get to know my students and encourage them to plan the lessons alongside me, allowing for them to focus on the stuff that’s most needed.

About the lesson

I worked for the 21/22 school year with a tutoring company doing 1-1 and 3-1 lessons. These mainly focused on Maths GCSE level. In my lessons I would begin with a quick exercise normally based on the previous lessons' topics. This allowed for us to understand where we were at with the topic and the rate of progress made as so much maths intertwines with other topics. Following that, I carry on to outline the new topic of the lesson, normally creating a big list of bullet points, with the student, that highlights the essential aspects of the topic. This is then used to go through practice papers and questions. I am flexible with subjects. Maths, sociology, history and politics are my most knowledgeable subjects and I feel comfortable teaching up to any level in them. I also feel confident offering subjects such as English at a KS2/KS3 level. I look forward to hearing from you and welcome any further questions :)
