About Bonham
Hi! I'm Bonham, an accomplished composer of over 30 works from the Virgin Islands, US. I attended Interlochen Arts Academy, the highest rated US based music high school, and received the highest awards for both guitar performance and composition/music theory. I then attended Berklee College of Music for two years before transferring to the Conservatori Superior de Música Joaquín Rodrigo in Valencia, Spain. I worked as a tutor at Interlochen for two years, and then as an online teacher/arranger in New York and Boston for another two years.

I teach music theory and composition as an active composer in the field of classical music. I know how hard it can be to try and assemble information from YouTube or Wikipedia into a cohesive concept of an idea. Theory isn't just analyzing. It's history, it's art, it's creativity. Depending on your skill level, I usually start small, building up related concepts with concrete exercises with examples from real music. I've taught and tutored many people, from Berklee film composers, to Klezmer artists, jazz artists, and other classical composers. I focus on cohesion, comprehensibility, musical rhetoric, regardless of style. I have experience with common practice analysis and figured bass, jazz analysis and lead sheet creation, set theory and serialism, as well as pop and related fields.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
Bonham has been teaching me private music theory and composition lessons for 1 and a half years. We met in college in an arranging course. After I expressed my interest in learning more about composition, Bonham took me on as a student and taught me more than half of what I know about music theory and composition. His teaching style is very clear and precise; from the moment you meet him, you can just tell her knows his stuff. If you’re the kind of person who wants to really understand something you already love I believe bonham can help you see more of music.
