About Risa

I began crocheting 7 years ago after discovering how enjoyable it is to transform yarn into garments, accessories, and creative textures. Over the years, I completed courses in modern design, shaping techniques, and garment construction, which strengthened my technical understanding and expanded my artistic vision. Teaching became a natural extension of my passion for fiber arts, and guiding students through their own creative journeys has become one of the most rewarding aspects of my work. Teaching internationally has also helped me develop a warm, adaptable, and student-focused approach. I prioritize clarity, patience, and encouragement in every lesson. I use visual stitch guides, project diagrams, demonstration clips, and personalized plans to help students learn comfortably and confidently. My goal is to meet each student where they are—whether they want to master basics or design advanced pieces—and support them with gentle, thoughtful guidance. Outside of teaching, I create original patterns, participate in fiber art groups, and explore new techniques that keep my skills fresh and inspired. Crochet has brought me creativity, calm, and community, and I’m grateful for every opportunity to share that experience with students as they develop their own artistic voice.

About the lesson

Crochet lessons with me offer a soothing, inspiring, and thoughtfully paced environment where students can learn fiber artistry with confidence and clarity. I guide learners through technique, creativity, and craftsmanship, helping them understand crochet as both a practical skill and an artistic outlet. The atmosphere is warm and patient, allowing students to enjoy the meditative rhythm of stitching while discovering their own creative potential. Through step-by-step instruction, clear demonstration, and supportive feedback, I help each learner build strong fundamentals and develop their personal style with yarn and texture.

Lessons are structured across three skill levels. Beginners learn hook grip, yarn tension, foundational stitches, simple shapes, and small projects that build early confidence. Intermediate students practice pattern reading, shaping, color changes, multi-panel construction, and wearable pieces. Advanced crocheters explore garment design, lacework, stitch creativity, drape control, and pattern writing. Weekly assignments may include stitch drills, small creative prompts, fiber selection guidance, and optional project challenges to strengthen technique and imagination. Students working on personal projects or craft-fair pieces receive tailored support with finishing, detailing, and structural consistency.

Crochet often becomes a meaningful creative outlet that supports relaxation and self-expression. Students develop patience, focus, and artistic confidence as their work grows from simple stitches to finished pieces. I aim to help every learner feel capable, inspired, and proud of their progress, creating handmade items that reflect both skill and personal creativity.
