About Grace

I am passionate about teaching French because I believe language is a gateway to new cultures, perspectives, and opportunities. In my three years as a tutor, I have worked with approximately 150 students of all ages and levels, helping them build competence and confidence in French. My tutoring approach emphasizes clarity, relevance, and personalization. I start with the essentials—grammar structures like verb tenses, negation, and sentence construction—explaining them in accessible language and reinforcing concepts through practical examples. To foster communicative ability, I integrate plenty of speaking practice, encouraging students to engage in dialogues, storytelling, and real-life scenario simulations from the earliest lessons. Listening and reading comprehension are developed through exposure to authentic French media tailored to students’ levels and interests. I also assign written tasks to consolidate vocabulary and grammar knowledge. One of my key strengths is using multimedia resources such as educational videos, interactive apps, and songs to cater to different learning preferences and keep lessons stimulating. I cultivate a supportive atmosphere where students feel comfortable taking risks and asking questions, which I believe is essential for progress. Throughout our journey, I track progress carefully and adjust lesson plans to align with evolving goals and challenges. Ultimately, my goal is to empower learners to use French confidently in academic, social, and professional contexts while instilling a lasting love for the language and its cultural richness.

About the lesson

I approach teaching French with a focus on communication, confidence, and cultural engagement. Creating a safe and interactive learning environment is central, where students are encouraged to speak, listen, and experiment with the language from the start.

Using a communicative approach, I incorporate conversations, storytelling, and role-plays that reflect real-life contexts like dining out, traveling, or sharing opinions, making language learning relevant and enjoyable. Grammar instruction is embedded within these activities, allowing students to grasp how structures function naturally in conversation rather than through rote memorization.

Lessons are tailored to individual goals and learning styles, whether preparing for exams, traveling, or learning for personal enrichment, with varied activities including songs, games, articles, and authentic cultural materials. I emphasize cultural immersion by introducing francophone music, films, traditions, and current events, helping students connect with the language on a deeper level.

One of my most fulfilling experiences was guiding a student through grammar challenges using simplified explanations and creative practice, culminating in passing a proficiency exam that unlocked academic opportunities. I also use technology such as language apps, audio exercises, and quizzes to enhance practice beyond the classroom and provide detailed feedback. Above all, I strive to make learning French empowering, enjoyable, and culturally rich.
