About Catie
Hi! I’m a 2D Animation student at the School of Visual Arts with a background in fine arts and illustration. I started out doing gallery work as a traditional artist, and now I’m working on an animated TV show pilot that’s being shown to major networks—so I’ve had experience on both the fine art and animation sides.
I work across digital and traditional media and have a strong understanding of both fundamentals and creative development. I’m used to adapting to different skill levels, whether someone is just starting or building a portfolio for art school.
I used to be a summer camp counselor, so I am used to working with people from six years old all the way to adults. I’m patient, reliable, and focused on helping students improve in a way that actually sticks—building real skills while keeping things engaging and supportive.

My lessons are super flexible and built around what you want to get out of them. I work with both kids and teens, whether you’re just starting out, trying to improve your skills, or putting together a portfolio for art school.
As a current 2D Animation student at the School of Visual Arts, I mix strong fundamentals with a more creative, personal approach. For beginners, we’ll focus on things like drawing from observation, shading, perspective, and getting comfortable with materials. For more advanced students, we can get into character design, storytelling, composition, and developing your own style.
I teach both traditional and digital art, so we can work with whatever you’re interested in—pencil, ink, paint, or programs like Procreate/Photoshop.
A typical lesson might include a quick demo, drawing together, and then feedback/critique to help you improve without it feeling overwhelming. I try to keep things supportive and low-pressure, but still push you to level up.
If you’re applying to art schools, I can also help you build a strong portfolio, come up with project ideas, and give honest, useful feedback so your work stands out.
Overall, my goal is to help you get better while actually enjoying the process and feeling confident in your work.
