About Abdul

I went to college at 16 and fell in love with writing. I first started tutoring because my friends needed help with their writing skills. I like to help tutor people with their writing because I see it as a puzzle. Every bad habit we work on and every piece of new information is just a tiny part of making someone the best writer they can be. I am taking a current break from college because I want to focus on tutoring, but I will be majoring in writing, and I plan on being an ENG-111 professor in the future.

About the lesson

Teaching methods:

-I like to teach by pointing out one's past mistakes and helping them understand how not to repeat them.
-I will have you rewrite the same sentence until you find what we are happy with
-I prefer teaching in person, but I can also tutor remotely
-I will admit when I don't know something obscure (exhow to cite something random from a format I don't use often). Many tutors may feel embarrassed, but I see it as an opportunity to expand my knowledge.

Typical lesson plan:

A typical lesson plan varies greatly depending on what field of writing I am tutoring. I most commonly work on academic papers, so that is what I will describe here.

-First, I will check if you are working on a paper. If you aren't, we can use one of your past papers.
-We will analyze the paper and look for errors together.
-I will see what you are struggling with and help teach you by showing you how you could improve your paper. (ex: If you're struggling with essay form, I will show you how to organize your paper correctly).

What sets me apart as a tutor?

-I have a passion for writing and for helping people write.
-I went to college at 16.
-I have a lot of experience tutoring my classmates.

Who are my lessons for?

-I can confidently teach writing skills through K-12 and through general education classes in college. (ENG-111 and ENG112)
