About Jake
Part of applying to medical school involves taking the MCAT. Aside from the MCAT strengthening my foundation in the sciences, I learned the ins and outs of becoming a better test taker. This involves knowing how to work to determine where your knowledge gaps are, and I plan on helping my students adopt the same principles I have learned.
I am confident that with my strong background in the math and sciences, paired with my prior university-level teaching experience, I can help aspiring students learn how to challenge themselves and become more confident in the classroom.

During my time teaching science laboratory classes at my university, I was required to attend weekly meetings with the biological sciences department head. These meetings were designed to improve the teaching styles me and my peers utilized in the classroom. I had the opportunity of receiving unique training where I learned how to encourage my students to engage in active learning, where they determined where the gaps in their knowledge were. I have experience applying my passion for teaching, where I lectured weekly to a classroom of 25 students and offered individual help to students who needed assistance.
I am dedicated to helping aspiring learners exceed in their classes, whether it involves homework help, test prep, or general improvement of study habits. My lesson plans will be targeted toward trying to determine where knowledge gaps exist, through practice problems and thorough assessment.
