About Sophie

I am very adamant that every student learns in a different way, so will always look out for what is the best way in which they learn and focus on that. I have been tutoring maths for over 2 years now and have helped out in many year 11 lessons in a secondary school, which is located next to the sixthform I attended. I can teach both foundation and higher level maths. One person in which I have tutored ended up getting a 8 in GCSE (higher), although when I first started working with them they was only working at a consistent 2 in foundation.

About the lesson

I prefer to teach GCSE level maths. My teaching method is to look at what they are doing during school hours, find the parts of maths they struggle with, then go into detail on the topic with them. I also like to build up to the harder topics by making sure that they are fluent in the basics that would be required in order to do a question on the topic (which is the main problem that arises for people when doing harder work). I will also give questions on each topic to make sure they understand fully. I also like to give frequent tests on a range of topics to spot their weaknesses, which will be based off the list of topics they need to know. This then also helps me to find what topics they will need to go back over and are struggling with.
