I believe that students learn best when they experience a balance between independent and teacher-led methods. Although we encourage students towards self-discovery, it is important that teachers provide content through direct instruction blended with hands-on learning experiences. I always provide feedback by providing the best model/output of what is expected from them. Error analysis is also included to help them correct their work and reflect on how to improve themselves. As a tutor, I believe that there should be a constant exchange of conversation, modeling an example, and demonstration of what they learned. Regular check-ins and self-assessments are the best way to help students feel they are in an inclusive and safe space. I always make a session routine where we first talk about our overall wellness for that day.
