About Aidan

Hi! My name is Aidan and I am from Hong Kong who is currently studying Biomedicine in the University of Dundee. Despite the fact I am from Hong Kong, English is my native tongue, as I have been speaking and studying for all 18 years of my life, so communication is absolutely not going to be an issue. A little bit about myself, I enjoy things such as socializing, football, watching films and listening to music. My school life in Hong Kong was amazing, I met so many fantastic people and managed to make so many new friends. However the aspect I found quite disappointing in my school life was the teaching part. I found that many teachers did not teach with enthusiasm, often times their style of teaching overcomplicated the foundation of what we students were trying to learn, as a result I lost my passion for the subjects I once fell in love with. This is the core reason as to why I thoroughly enjoy teaching, as I understand the pressures of being a student and I would like to provide some sort of guiding light during what can be quite a lonely journey.

About the lesson

- In terms of meeting a new student, I like to get to know what works for them. As in if they are more visual or auditory learners in order to make lessons more enjoyable as well as more informative.
- Usually I would ask a student what concepts they have a struggle with understanding, then I go over the content with them until they completely understand inside out. Then I would throw some practice questions just to test their knowledge in an exam setting.
- I also like to give students lots of exam specific tips, whether it be how they are meant to respond to a certain type of question or how they should study. These tips are specific to what the examiners of that specific exam board are looking for.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Has worked as a part-time private tutor (Jollykids Academy) in Hong Kong, teaching children from primary and Secondary school English and Maths for a year.
- Received Cambridge and AQA GCSE Diploma (BB in Sciences, 7 in English Literature, B in Maths)
- Received International Baccalaureate Diploma (37 Points; 6 in Biology HL, 6 in Maths AA SL, 6 in English Literature SL, A grade in Extended Essay)

Lessons Available:
- Can teach English and Maths at the primary school level (Ages 5-10).
- Can teach Maths at GCSE Level and Scottish National 5s (Ages: 14-16).
- Can teach Biology at GCSE Level, Scottish National 5s and IB Level (SL/HL) (Ages: 14-18)
- Provide help with Extended Essay (EE) for IBDP.
