About Risa

My dance journey began 6 years ago through contemporary, jazz, and expressive movement training, which opened my eyes to how powerfully dance can connect emotion and physicality. Over the years, I completed structured coursework in choreography analysis, performance technique, and movement theory. These experiences strengthened both my artistic foundation and my passion for guiding others. Working with students across different cultures and creative backgrounds has shaped me into a patient, observant, and supportive instructor who values each dancer’s individuality. My teaching philosophy centers on kindness, structure, and the belief that every student deserves to feel confident in their movement. I use rhythm tools, combination breakdowns, verbal imagery, and personalized feedback to make lessons engaging and accessible. I adapt my approach to match each learner’s pace, personality, and goals—whether they seek technical growth or deeper emotional expression. My focus is always on developing dancers who feel empowered, skilled, and connected to their artistry. Outside of teaching, I continue to expand my own craft by participating in movement workshops, choreography projects, and collaborative performances. Dance has given me confidence, emotional clarity, and a lifelong sense of creativity. It is meaningful to share that with students and support their growth, not just as dancers but as expressive, self-assured individuals.

About the lesson

Dance lessons with me are built as a supportive and expressive space where students can grow technically and creatively at a comfortable, steady pace. I focus on helping learners understand movement through body awareness, musical sensitivity, and emotional connection. The atmosphere is calm, encouraging, and structured, giving students a place to explore dance without pressure while still receiving clear guidance. My teaching blends foundational technique with creative exercises that highlight the relationship between rhythm, expression, and storytelling. Students are guided gently so they feel empowered to try new movements, trust their bodies, and appreciate the artistry behind each step.

Lessons are adapted for three experience levels to ensure steady development. Beginners work on posture, rhythm, coordination, balance, and simple choreography that helps them build early confidence. Intermediate dancers learn dynamic transitions, spatial awareness, expressive phrasing, and combinations that challenge both technique and musicality. Advanced students refine precision, stamina, performance clarity, emotional embodiment, and audition readiness. Weekly practice may include conditioning drills, short routines, musicality challenges, reflection exercises, and optional style explorations. For dancers preparing for shows or structured performances, I provide targeted coaching on polish, projection, timing, and expressive presence.

Many students discover that dance enriches both their personal and emotional well-being. The discipline of movement helps develop confidence, resilience, focus, and creative intuition. Through consistent practice, learners often become more self-aware, expressive, and connected to their physicality. My aim is to create an environment where dancers feel valued, motivated, and inspired to grow into confident movers with strong technique and authentic artistry. Whether students dance for performance, fitness, or creative expression, I guide them with patience and thoughtful instruction to help them shine in their own unique way.
