About Didem

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have been giving private lessons in singing, piano, music theory since 2006.

I have worked as a lecturer in Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory Music Department, taught to primary school, high school and university students between the years 2007-2009, 2010-2011 and 2013-2015.

I was leading the Musical Theatre program for children at Siz Drama-Istanbul with a colleague of mine from 2012 to 2016.

I'm a Musical Theatre performer since 2009 and I've acted in many projects including Grease (Istanbul City Theatre Festival), Footloose (Sieur Duluth Festival, Duluth, USA), Urinetown the Musical (Istanbul State Theatre) and Some Like it Hot (TIM Show Center)

I worked as the head choreographer, music director and actress at Kazan Dairesi Theatre-Istanbul. I was the music director of Hedwig and the Angry Inch which was awarded as the best musical project of 2016-2017 Theatre Season in Istanbul.

About the lesson

Hi, my name is Didem, and I am a professional singer, a vocal coach, and a piano teacher. I am passionate about sharing my love for music and teach students of all ages and all levels – whether young or old; beginner, intermediate, or advanced.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach :
- Musical Theatre singing, pop/jazz singing and classical singing as well.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

-Bachelor of Music degree, at Department of Composition and Orchestral Conducting, Rhythmic Division
-Musical Theatre Diploma
-Postgraduate studies in Music Theory
-Master's degree in Jazz performance-vocal

- How much do you charge?

I charge £50/hour
If group lessons required, we can discuss the fee.

- Cancellation policy?
Cancellations of reschedules are possible if at least 24 hours of notice is given. Any cancellations within 24 hours will be charged in full.

- Where do you teach?

I teach at my home studio in Brixton. I am happy to travel to my students' houses within the distance of 30 minutes commute. But if the commute time will take more than 30min from my place, or the location is at 3rd zone I will charge an additional £5 for travel expenses. For the locations out of 3rd zone, please contact.

- When are you available?

During the week:
Monday-Tuesday during the day till 6.00pm
Wednesday-Thursday from 10.00am-2.00pm
Fridays till 4.00pm
Evenings negotiable.
During the weekend:
Saturdays negotiable.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach adults, teenagers and children as well. I am happy to teach every level from beginner to professional. And besides working as a lecturer for music students, I always loved to teach people who wanted to learn music as a hobby.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

I studied Musical Theatre, have a strong background in classical music and I perform different genres including pop, jazz and rock. I can easily adapt to my students singing style requirements whether it's improving your skills or preparing for exams, auditions and concerts.

As a performer myself, I can teach you the fundamentals of singing and help you refine your techniques, musicality, vocal health, performance skills and confidence. My aim is to encourage and guide you in ways that will help you grow and develop in your chosen musical field. I am friendly and always approachable, and know when to push my students and when to hold back. However, music requires an infinite amount of practice and, when needed, I can be strict and disciplined as well!
