About Nathan
Hello! I'm Nathan, an experienced tutor with over nine years of teaching experience across primary, secondary, and university levels. I hold a Distinction in Environmental Anthropology (MSc) from University College London (UCL) and a BA in Social Anthropology from Curtin University in Australia.
Alongside tutoring, I work as a researcher at UCL, where I contribute to projects exploring environmental justice, energy transitions, and the social dimensions of climate change. My own research has focused on the political ecology of renewable energy development and Indigenous rights in Western Australia, giving me first-hand experience of academic research, critical thinking, and university-level writing.
Teaching has always been one of the most rewarding parts of my career. Over the past nine years, I have worked with students ranging from primary school pupils preparing for 11+ entrance examinations to undergraduates developing their academic writing and research skills. I enjoy helping students build confidence just as much as improving grades, and I believe that the best learning happens when students understand why something works rather than simply memorising answers.
My lessons are carefully tailored to each individual, combining clear explanations, structured guidance, and encouragement to help students become independent learners. Whether you're preparing for a competitive school entrance exam, aiming for top grades in your humanities subjects, or navigating the challenges of university study, my goal is to make learning engaging, enjoyable, and intellectually rewarding.
Outside of tutoring, I'm passionate about environmental issues, anthropology, history, and helping students discover the confidence to achieve their academic ambitions.
