About Isla
I am a distinguished piano tutor with 9 years of expertise teaching students across high school and college levels. I have successfully guided around 302 students, helping them build strong technical skills and a lasting appreciation for music. My teaching philosophy is centered on sequencing, adaptability, and encouragement, ensuring every student receives lessons suited to their pace and learning style. My teaching method for Piano, Music Theory, and Sight Reading reflects nine years of helping students build strong fundamentals through distinguished, well sequenced instruction.
Sequencing shapes how I plan lessons, moving students step by step from hand posture and finger exercises through note reading, rhythm, and eventually sight reading.
Adaptability is central to my teaching, since students absorb material differently, so I adjust repetition, demonstration, or theory depth to match what each learner needs.
Encouragement stays present throughout every session, since celebrating steady improvement keeps students motivated through more demanding technical stages.
Lessons typically begin with hand posture and finger exercises, followed by note reading and rhythm practice, with music theory basics like scales and chords introduced early.
As students advance, I add sight reading and ear training to strengthen musicianship, along with expression and performance confidence for those preparing for exams or recitals.
I tailor my teaching to each student's personal goals, whether learning for enjoyment, exam preparation, or advanced musical pursuit. My aim is a sequenced, adaptable space where every student grows with confidence.
