About Sarah

I have always had a passion for science and want to share that passion with students. I have a PhD in medicinal chemistry (the science of drugs and medicine) in which I researched new antibiotics (medicines to treat bacterial infections). After completing my PhD I worked in a scientific job in the public sector, but I missed the teaching I did during my PhD. I was inspired to try tutoring and found it so satisfying that I now tutor full-time.

My favourite moments are when a student gets the hang of a topic they have been struggling with and can explain back to me what I have been teaching them.

About the lesson

Every student learns differently and I adapt my teaching style to best suit each individual using a range of techniques including discussion, problem solving, textbook exercises and practice tests suitable for their level.

I am very patient and keen to share my love of the subject with students of all ability levels.

I particularly appreciate the opportunity to help students who have not had a straightforward path through their studies. For example, students who are outside the regular education system, or who are taking resits. I also enjoy teaching adult learners.

Perfect! In the beginning of the year (2026) I connected Sarah,
I was requesting tutoring centered around personalized homework based on the book *Solomons' Organic Chemistry, Global Edition*. Meaning a total of 36 homeworks each containing five assignments, based on a book she was unfamiliar with at the time, during a ten week straight period with a minimum of two (1 h) lessons every week all online.

Despite that more than average workload, to put it lightly, and dealing with a one hour difference between our two countries, the UK and Sweden, in the midst of moving across the globe, from Japan back to the UK, she accepted the challenge and she took me on. Under those circumstances I am forever grateful for Sarah.

Sarah set you up for success, perfect for someone wanting a comeback in organic chemistry in less time than half a term. Organic chemistry is a language, a visual language, it’s true. Sarah can help you learn it and love it. She guides you through all the misunderstandings, the information jungle and the dangerous substances. Sarah is a true master, she takes complex concepts and makes it simple and fun. It should actually be fun, yes organic chemistry should be enjoyable, a controversial opinion, I know.

Personal problems with the subject can hold you back, and facing failure is painful. But you must help yourself. I had to accept that I needed someone like Sarah. I had to believe in myself and find someone who believed in me. Confidence is key. I have no regrets about tutoring with her, it was worth every penny.

Sarah was an excellent teacher throughout our time together. She was very patient and great at explaining complex processes in an understandable manner; I achieved the high marks I did in that project in part due to her hard work.
