About Steven
I hold a doctorate degree in Musicology from the University of Birmingham and continue to pursue independent research in the field. With over three years of experience teaching both language and music in-person and online, I have developed strong pedagogical and communication skills. Although I am a trained cellist, my primary focus lies in academic research, exploring diverse areas of musicology and its cultural, theoretical, and historical dimensions. My background combines performance, scholarship, and teaching, allowing me to bridge practical musicianship with intellectual inquiry. This unique balance enriches my research and enables me to engage meaningfully with students.

I am flexible to do lessons either in-person or online. The first lesson is always free. We will plan lessons tailored for your needs, whether you are doing GCSE, A-level, or preparing for the university level music theory or history – let’s plan our lessons together based on your needs. Each lesson is 60 minutes. I will be giving an assignment for you to do prior to the next lesson whether from the workbook or my own assignment.

Details
My standard fee is £50 for a 60-minute session, which includes tailored instruction based on the student’s level and goals. This rate applies to both in-person and online lessons. For in-person lessons, travel within a 10-km (or 6 miles) radius (from where I live, West London) is included at no extra cost. If the lesson location requires travelling beyond 10km, an additional £20 travel fee will be applied. This ensures that time, transport costs, and logistics are fairly covered, while still keeping the lessons accessible.
