About Hcj
I am a tutor with a Master's degree in Finance and a strong background in leadership and mentoring. I previously taught and coached children in sports while at university, which helped me develop clear communication skills and the ability to support learners of different abilities.
As captain of both my university rugby and American football teams, I gained experience in motivating others and leading by example skills I bring into my teaching.
I specialise in one-hour GCSE lessons for students aged 13–16, focusing on clear explanations, exam technique, and building confidence through structured practice and support.

My tutoring approach is structured, exam-focused, and designed to build both understanding and exam confidence for GCSE students aged 13–16.
I typically start by identifying the student’s current level and any gaps in understanding, often through short diagnostic questions or reviewing recent classwork or homework. From there, I tailor each lesson to the specific exam board and topic the student is working on, ensuring the content is directly relevant to what they will be assessed on.
In terms of teaching methodology, I focus on breaking concepts down into clear, manageable steps and using guided practice before moving into independent exam-style questions. I place a strong emphasis on active recall and exam technique—helping students learn not just the content, but how to apply it under time pressure. Where appropriate, I use repetition of key question types and structured feedback to build long-term retention and exam confidence.
Lessons are typically one hour long. This usually allows enough time to introduce or review a concept, work through examples together, and complete exam-style practice with feedback at the end.
In terms of qualifications, I hold a Master's degree in Finance, which supports a strong analytical and numerically rigorous approach to teaching mathematics and related subjects. I also have experience working with GCSE-level learners, particularly in building confidence with exam questions and improving performance in structured assessments.
My lessons are aimed primarily at GCSE students aged 13–16, covering a range of abilities—from students who need help building core understanding to those aiming for higher grades and refinement of exam technique.
