About Ian

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have over thirty five years experience in teaching as well as over twenty years as an A level and GCSE Examiner for Economics and Business.

Redland College of Education, University of Bristol, University of Essex and Sheffield University.

- Tell me about some of your current students.

My current students have made excellent progress in improving their knowledge, analysis and evaluation skills. They all have a target grade which is usually aimed at the top and I have a very high level of success in helping them achieve their goal. I have received glowing testimonials from both the students and their parents/ guardians about the growth in confidence around their work especially in developing essay styles, case study analysis in Business and the use of graphs in Economics. Students who have tried trial lessons have continued with me requesting very regular sessions, and it is very common for those starting with me in Y12 to continue into Y13. Every student comes with different needs and so it is important to me to treat each student as an individual with their own personalised learning path. Again this contributes greatly to the successful development of the achievements of my students.

Over thirty five successful years both teaching and examining Economics and Business means I really can help raise grades either online or one to one.

Economics and Business

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I have an MA in Economics and Business, BA (Hons) Economics and QTS

- How much do you charge?

£35 per hour session.

- Where do you teach?

I teach at my house, students' homes within a twenty mile radius of Rotherham and online using Skype. I am prepared to travel to Worksop, Bawtry, Sheffield, Barnsley and Doncaster. South Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire are areas I have tutored.

- When are you available?

Monday to Friday from 10.00 am until 8.00 pm throughout the year.

Years 10 to 13

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

GCSE, AS and A level

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I use Skype. Sessions are usually an hour long.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

I believe I can offer really experienced tuition that is effective at providing the individual development that teachers in schools and colleges just simply do not have the time to give. By being able to offer real analysis with my tutees of their written work, in particular, students are able to really understand how to improve their grades. My thirty five years of experience both as a teacher and examiner can only be of benefit to my students and they quickly recognise that which is why they often recommend me to other students. I believe I am a very professional tutor who is very much up to date with the new examinations at AS and A level as well as current developments in the world that impact upon Economics and Business. I have a good sense of humour, am reliable, punctual and find my students are able to make relaxed contributions to all sessions. Most of all I am really proud of the improvements my students make which is reflected in their final grades.
