My methodologies vary significant, as I believe there is a very specific way to work with each individual. More generally, I meet with the student for the first time (usually over coffee) and we plan together a study schedule. First, I ask the student about his/her background, what are his/her goals and the time frame we have to work on. Then, I process this information in order to suggest a working schedule that will put him/her exactly where he/she needs to be. My classes involve both theory and practice (the percentage depends on the student), as I always teach the student from basics to advanced, while expect him/her to carefully think about what is being taught. Additionally, I try to use the student's own interest to provide more examples and facilitate the learning procedure. Finally, I believe that homework is key in this learning procedure, so I always leave the student with some tasks to work on before we have the chance to reconnect and go over it together.
I am an Electrical Engineer, with a MSc from the University of Calgary. I am a professional in both software and hardware development, and I have 13 years of experience with private tutoring, including academic courses (Calculus, Programming and Electronics) and languages (English, Portuguese and Spanish). I have always been TA for many years in Canada and in Brazil, teaching Analog Electronic Circuits and Differential and Integral Calculus.
