About Rosa
I am currently studying for my Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a hopeful minor in computer engineering. Both of my parents had math-heavy majors and combined with advanced math classes, I do have the confidence in understanding different styles of math teaching. I do also understand what it's like to struggle with math as I skipped the 3rd grade and simultaneously skipped 3rd and 4th-grade math, with my parents pointing out that I probably didn't fully catch up on those skills until I was in honors 8th-grade math. I'm not a math genius but I want to help make it more manageable especially as it is very useful in the modern world.
I have experience with neurodivergent students and being neurodivergent myself, I understand the difficulties that come from many traditional classroom settings and so I like to meet all of my students where they are and formulate lessons around their passions to help encourage them.

I understand how hard school can be, especially when it comes to math classes and how sometimes there's just a need for someone else to explain a concept or even just a sounding board to help get through a mistake. I want to integrate students' passions into their learning so that they don't feel like it's completely unrelatable.
I have experience working with and communicating with neurodivergent students and want to encourage those students to succeed without actively working against them. This may mean encouraging students to draw while we work or get up and have a mini dance party or even just only communicating through chat if they are feeling overwhelmed.
I want to frequently check students' progress through mini-assessments so that we can all see how they're understanding the material as well as provide them with skills that may prove useful when taking tests and quizzes in their school lives. I want to encourage them that making mistakes is okay and rather than a wall standing in their way, it is simply a possibility for growth and better understanding.
I always want to be working alongside my students' actual classes and want to focus my lessons on helping work through challenging homework problems, clarifying given notes, solving extra practice problems, as well as going over missed problems from returned quizzes and tests to understand where there may be misunderstandings or a need for additional practice.

Much of the first lesson will be focused on us making sure we're a good match for each other in terms of tutoring as well as getting an idea of where struggles are. With the student (and parent/guardian in certain situations) I want to be able to sit down and make a plan about how to effectively move forward.
I am willing to do group tutoring with an additional charge per student, though not as much as for an additional tutoring session. I am hoping to charge each extra person about one-third to one-half of the price of a solo session though that is subject to change.
