I currently work in education as a division level Elementary Math Specialist servicing grades Kindergarten through Sixth Grade. I previously taught Sixth Grade math for 6 years and also served as a building level specialist for 6 years. I have been working at the division level for the past 2 years all in Title 1 schools.

I usually like to get an idea of where the student is struggling so that I can begin to teach the student from that point and not waste time teaching him/her skills that they have already mastered. Once I have determined the areas that the student struggles I like to create visual lessons that show students what the math looks like at the concrete level before introducing them to procedures.
