About Yug
Hi, I’m Yug Patel, and I’m passionate about helping students conquer math and build skills that last a lifetime. As a dedicated tutor, I specialize in guiding middle and high school students through the twists and turns of numbers—from fractions and algebra to trigonometry and beyond. My mission? To make math not just understandable, but exciting—and to show how it connects to real life, like budgeting for your first apartment or decoding the world around us. My Journey I’ve always loved problem-solving—whether it’s cracking a tricky equation or figuring out how to turn goals into reality. Growing up, I saw math as a toolbox for independence, helping me plan my own path (like moving out on my own terms!). That spark drives me to teach students the same: math isn’t just homework—it’s power. With 6 of tutoring experience and a knack for breaking down complex ideas, I’ve helped dozens of students boost grades, ace tests, and gain confidence. In high school I tutored kids in the neighboring middle/elementary school, and currently tutor kids who've suffered from domestic violence help them do homework then fun activities What I Offer My approach blends clear explanations, hands-on practice, and real-world fun. Think scavenger hunts for equations or budgeting projects that mirror adulting—like the move I’m planning now! I tailor lessons to each student, whether you’re a 6th-grader mastering decimals or a 12th-grader tackling calculus. Drawing from proven strategies (like the ones in my custom math plans), I keep sessions engaging and results-driven. Online or in-person, I’m here to fit your schedule and goals. Why Choose Me? Personalized: One-size-fits-none—your lessons match your pace and needs. Practical: I tie math to life—think savings plans or career prep. Results: From C’s to A’s, my students see progress (and parents see smiles). Energy: I bring enthusiasm—math’s a puzzle, not a chore! Beyond the Numbers When I’m not tutoring, I’m crunching my own numbers—saving up, to move out and live independently. It’s a journey I share with students, showing how math fuels big dreams. I also love to play basketball, volleyball, and regularly workout. I'm also investing in the stock market every day, trading futures and crypto. Let’s team up to solve your math challenges—and maybe plan your future, too! Ready to start? Contact me or book a session today. Let’s make math your superpower!

Why It Works:
Progression: Middle school builds blocks (equations, shapes); high school scales up (trig, calculus).
Engagement: Games (scavenger hunts, dice) and projects (budgets, designs) beat drills—students stay hooked.
Spaced Repetition: Revisiting topics (e.g., equations in projects) cements recall—backed by Edutopia studies.
Real Life: Links to moving out, careers—math feels useful, not abstract.
Middle School (example lesson plan)
Fall Semester: Foundations & Exploration
Weeks 1-4: Number Sense
Topics: Integers, fractions, decimals, order of operations (PEMDAS).
Activity: Budget a “family trip” ($500 limit)—add/subtract decimals.
Goal: Fluency in basics—e.g., 3/4 + 1/2 = 5/4 or 1.25.
Weeks 5-9: Pre-Algebra
Topics: Variables, solving equations (e.g., 2x + 3 = 11), inequalities.
Activity: “Solve for x” scavenger hunt—equations hidden in class.
Goal: Comfort with x = 4, not just 2 + 2 = 4.
Weeks 10-14: Geometry Basics
Topics: Angles, area/perimeter (triangles, rectangles), intro to pi.
Activity: Design a mini “room” on graph paper—calculate area.
Goal: Visualize shapes—e.g., area of a 5x3 rectangle = 15 sq units.
Weeks 15-18: Data & Probability
Topics: Mean/median/mode, basic graphs, coin-flip odds.
Activity: Survey classmates (favorite food), graph results.
Goal: Interpret numbers—e.g., median of 2, 4, 6 = 4.
