About Lucy

I am a fully qualified and licensed, BC High School teacher working at a CAIS accredited, independent K-12 school in Shaughnessy, Vancouver. I hold 5 years of experience in teaching both English Language and Literature to High School students in England & Canada. Professional Background: I hold a First-Class Honors Bachelor's degree in English Literature from the University of Reading, UK. During my time there, I served as the President of the Athletics Team, juggling multiple part-time roles, including tutoring primary school children, waitressing, and representing the University as an ambassador and school's mentor. Teach First Leadership Development Program: Driven by a commitment to address educational inequality, I successfully completed the Teach First Leadership Development Program (2019-2021). After five weeks of intensive training, I took on a full-time teaching role, obtaining Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and Newly Qualified Teacher Status (NQT) on the Early Career Framework (ECF). Continuous Education: Eager to enhance my knowledge, I pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and later a Master's in Education, receiving a Distinction for both the dissertation and the MA as a whole. My research focused on inclusivity and diversity, specifically in the context of English Language Learners (ELL). Global Perspective: Recently relocating to Canada, I contributed my expertise as an Educational Consultant in Vancouver. Here, I edited and proofread Ivy League college applications, while providing personalized guidance to students in refining their reading and writing skills.
