About Jacob
Hello, I'm a highly experienced tutor with over 7 years of experience, teaching students at all stages. I graduated from Oxford in 2017 with a 2:1 in Classics, and have been a private tutor in Milan, New York and London, as well as a residential tutor up and down the UK.
I specialise in Maths, Latin, Greek, English, History and Classical Civilisation. I have helped students get into schools such as Harrow, Eton and Dulwich College and Universities such as Oxford and Durham. I also have experience working with students with special needs.
I believe that in order for a student to get the most out of tutoring it must be both engaging and instructive. There's no point tutoring being fun if nothing is learnt. In the same way dogmatically going through a syllabus can also be detrimental to the student's progress. I believe the best course is to plan each lesson out beforehand, have a clear goal and reach that goal in a way that the student finds interesting.
This approach ensures the student is making progress, while also fostering a genuine intellectual curiosity, which I hope they can carry on with them in their future academic endeavours.
I offer tutorials both at your home and on Skype.
