The most vital part of my teaching method is teaching students HOW to think about math. I find that most students do not think about it in a practical way, which results in a lot of confusion. Once the general concepts are understood and the mathematical framework is laid, all that is required is practice. Walking students through practice problems and noticing the common errors they make goes a long way in improving the mathematical mindset and increasing grades.
I began volunteer tutoring when I was in first year university (2013). I have helped junior high and high school students in math, physics and chemistry with great results. I have also prepared a potential medical student for the physics portion of the MCAT exam, again with great results. My degree is in Civil Engineering, specializing in Structural Engineering. I have worked as an engineer for two companies, one as an intern, the other as a graduate. The most recent work I have been involved in in structural simulations and load calculations.
