About Sarvi
I've recently completed my second-year Mechanical Engineering student at UofT with a cumulative GPA of 3.86. Specifically, I've acquired an 89% in CALC I and 90% in CALC II which are exceptionally high for being at the university level. I can provide proof for these claims. I'm employed as a GEARS Leader at UofT, through which I tutor first-year students in all core engineering subjects. I've also been previously employed at Mathnasium as a tutor there. I have done plenty of private tutoring in the past two years as well. Overall, I've developed long-term tutoring/mentoring relationships with upwards of 20 students.
Most students who I tutor tell me that I am great at explaining concepts in a way that students can visualize. I can anticipate the source of students' struggles and misconceptions even when the student is having a hard time articulating them. I've seen many of my students improve their grades and develop so much confidence that they become determined to continue with STEM subjects after high school.

Greetings,
I am open to meeting both virtually and in person. I’m experienced in carrying out virtual sessions so they are engaging. That is to say, I have a tablet, stylus and can effectively create a collaborative virtual environment using features such as screenshare and whiteboard. Although, I believe in person sessions are generally more effective.
Typically when I meet with a new student, I ask them to solve a set of preliminary questions to acquire an understanding of their skill level. The questions take into account their grade/age. One of my main concerns with any student is ensuring that they are comfortable with the foundational concepts before we move on to concepts which they are studying in school. You will not believe how many students are hindered by gaps in their ability to perform algebra, geometry, free-body diagrams, problem-solving steps, etc. These skills are especially important in courses calculus and physics which build on existing knowledge.
Like my old math teacher used to say, you can't build a skyscraper on uneven ground.
With ongoing meets, I usually ask students in advance what we will be working on, so that I can prepare and review those lessons before our session. I may have exercises and lessons with me on my computer so that we can move along with visuals. Otherwise, I would be happy to help the student with questions they bring to the meet.
In terms of teaching, my main method is Socratic questioning. This means asking students how/why questions as they resolve a problem to help them gain an understanding of why a given approach is best suited to a particular problem. This is essential is learning the nuances of concepts and helping students gain the reflective skills required to logically tackle problems on their own.

I am literally so dumb in math and always felt stupid trying... but tutoring with Sarvi is actually fun and I look forward to our sessions! She's very patient and kind, and really funny too. Thanks Sarvi!!!!
I have had the pleasure of working with Sarvi. She is a driven, organized teacher who develops inspiring relationships with her students. She is very patient, professional, and skilled. Sarvi is also intelligent and well spoken. She explains and clarifies all the difficult concepts in the best way I could ever hope for. Sarvi truly deserves strongest recommendations. 100% RECOMMENDED!
Sarvi is so good at tuning into a person’s specific energy and working with them at their pace. I felt so supported and unafraid to ask questions. I went in with horror stories of previous math classes but she helped me engage with the material in a way that made me actually interested in what I was learning. She’s a literal miracle worker!
Sarvi is incredible at breaking down complex problems into small, easy-to-manage steps that can really make learning efficient and worthwhile for any subject. During my time at the UofT Human Powered Vehicle Design Team, Sarvi has consistently been patient and willing to always aid new members with various technologies and difficult concepts. Therefore, Sarvi has a great ability to teach others. Due to her knowledge of advanced engineering concepts, she is definitely trustworthy in regards to any major mathematical concept.
If you are looking for a prof, you might as well end your search right now. Sarvi is a patient, hard-working and caring Engineering student who is dedicated to seeing her students succeed. She is astutely disciplined in her own studies as well as a reliable and trustworthy person. Sarvi went above-and-beyond when helping my daughter in Grade 10 Math. She effortlessly adapted her teaching style to accomodate my child- turning my discouraged daughter into a star student. I never thought this possible but Sarvi is a miracle worker, plain and simple.
