About Leandro

Hello! My name is Wilson, and I’m an engineering student with an applied mathematics minor at Coastal Carolina University. I love math and enjoy helping others develop their understanding and confidence in the subject.

During the summer and winter breaks, I typically work to gain professional experience. I’ve worked for AGRU America, an international manufacturer of plastics and geosynthetic clay products, as well as Carrier, a major manufacturer of residential and commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment. I’ve also worked at more traditional jobs, including Burger King during high school and Harbor Freight before college.

These experiences have taught me the importance of responsibility, a strong work ethic, and professionalism. Just as importantly, I have strong social skills so I can communicate effectively with both parents and students.

My goal is to create a comfortable, supportive learning environment where students can strengthen their math skills, build confidence, and develop a better understanding of the material.

My teaching methods are supplemental in nature. Rather than simply going over assigned work or textbooks that students already use, I focus on identifying and filling gaps in their knowledge to improve their overall understanding of the material. I also aim to reinforce the methods taught in class rather than introduce alternative approaches that may conflict with what their teacher expects.

My tutoring is best suited for students who struggle with foundational math skills, whether due to difficulties in middle or high school or a general lack of confidence in their ability to understand math. I believe that feeling like you “don't get math” often stems from gaps in understanding or a lack of confidence, both of which can be addressed with the right approach.

I can tutor mathematics up to and including college-level Calculus II. For subjects beyond that level, I recommend seeking assistance from a qualified instructor with more specialized expertise.
