About Charlotte

My name is Charlotte and I currently work in a school as a Teaching Assistant following my graduation from the University of Lincoln with a degree in English. I have always had a love of learning that I enjoy sharing with others. My experience working as a member of the support staff in the school has made me familiar with the range of needs that students have that affect their academic success. From working with children with learning difficulties in core subjects to assisting with the progress of high-ability students, I am familiar with the adaptability necessary for each individual student to be successful.

I plan to undertake my Teacher Training in the near future and continue to enhance my knowledge of the education sector. I am also an avid reader and enjoy crocheting and music in my spare time.

About the lesson

My one-to-one way of tutoring aims to do more than relay the knowledge you learn in the classroom that can at times seem generic and vague. The aim is for students to have a clear and confident understanding of the subject; breaking down methods of learning and making the subject more enjoyable and less stressful.

My adaptable way of tutoring will hold the student's preferred method of learning at its centre and will help them to become more confident in their approach to classroom work, homework and exams. With experience in classroom support, I find ways to best adapt to a child's way of learning. I work with students of all different levels of ability, from those with learning difficulties to those in top sets. My use of visual, written and spoken learning aids supports the process of understanding the material so that it can be applied successfully in exams.

I find that breaking down concepts, making the unfamiliar more relatable and understanding the material inside and outside its context is essential. I can also assist students looking for a way to improve things like essays and presentations by demonstrating failsafe structures of writing that can be applied to the content. I am familiar with the current GCSE and A-Level content for my 3 subjects and the expectations that teachers and exam boards have when assessing work.

I can also provide support for university applications, and job applications as well as editing essays and documents so they are suitable for the recipient.

My sessions are suitable for anyone studying English, History and Sociology in secondary school, whether it be in years 7, 8 and 9 or for GCSE and A-Level. A typical lesson will last for 1 hour with options for shorter or longer sessions priced appropriately.
