About Ashley
Whilst completing my A Levels, I tutored two girls for their GCSE English who were on the borderline of a fail. Both girls passed their GCSE, one achieving a C grade and the other a B.
At New North London Synagogue, I mentored girls 1-1 for their bat mitzvah, teaching the required prayers in hebrew and helping to write the D'var Torah, a speech read out in front of the congregation. I also worked as a teaching assistant for 2 years alongside this position, running classes for groups of children about mental illness, immigration, diversity, and global affairs.
I have a DBS certificate allowing me to work with children on a professional level. I am currently undertaking my TEFL course, which will enable to me teach English as a foreign language. This has engaged my grammatical awareness, and has taught me about lesson methodology which I look forward to applying to my role as a tutor.
I am enthusiastic, friendly and engaging. I always make sure my students feel comfortable, and see a positive teacher-student relationship as crucial to student success. I am reliable and dedicated, and make sure that my students feel taken care of.

I am a first class Ba English Literature graduate from the University of Leeds. Having just graduated, I am looking to be able to help students with their essay writing skills, critical thinking, and with set work for English Literature.
I create a friendly and open atmosphere with my classes, where mistakes are encouraged as a means of working towards improvement. I understand that classroom situations can be overwhelming for some students, and hierarchal education can impede on student confidence levels. I hope that my tutor sessions will allow my students to build critical confidence and enhance their skills to reach the grades they deserve.
I will cater my lesson plans to student needs, but as a general guide, I shall look over school work to locate areas of confidence that should be highlighted in future work. I will also identify areas of improvement, and create workshops to build upon these skills. I teach with worksheets, by close reading textual passages, by planning past exam and essay questions, and by responding to my students' particular worries that need addressing.
