About Deborah
I am an English tutor with experience supporting secondary-level and international students with academic English, including reading, writing, and literature. I provide IGCSE-aligned English support and focus on helping students improve clarity, organization, and confidence in their written and analytical work.
I have an academic background in public health, which has strengthened my skills in clear communication, critical reading, and structured writing. These skills are central to my teaching approach and help students learn how to express ideas clearly and support their responses effectively.
I work in a calm, supportive, and structured way and adapt lessons to each student’s needs. My goal is to help students feel more confident using English in an academic context and better prepared for exams and school assessments.

My lessons are structured, supportive, and focused on building strong academic English skills. I offer IGCSE-aligned English Language and Literature support for secondary-level and international students, with an emphasis on clear writing, confident reading comprehension, and effective exam technique.
Each lesson is adapted to the student’s level and goals. We typically work on understanding exam-style questions, planning responses clearly, developing well-structured paragraphs, and improving grammar, vocabulary, and academic tone. For literature, lessons focus on analysing texts, selecting relevant quotations, and expressing ideas clearly and accurately.
I use IGCSE-style tasks and guided practice to help students build confidence in a calm, low-pressure environment. Feedback is clear and practical, with specific guidance on how to improve over time. My aim is to help students feel more organised, confident, and prepared when approaching English assessments.
Lessons are delivered online in one-to-one sessions and can focus on English Language, English Literature, or a combination of both, depending on the student’s needs.
