About Cooper

My name is Cooper Hinkle. I am a 15 year-old straight A student with a 4.43 GPA who has just finished his freshman year of high school. Despite my younger age I believe that I am fully qualified to tutor you as I have already fully completed the high school math courses of Algebra One and Geometry and scored in the 98th percentile for math on my PSAT 8/9. I say this to establish my legitimacy as a serious student an show you that I am a hard worker in everything that I do. In addition to my hard-working spirit, I also poses great patience and am capable of being sociable with my peers making me easy to work with. I hope that you will take a chance on me!

About the lesson

When meeting with a new student, I always like to begin with getting to know them and their unique personality. I find this helps me better understand their struggles, needs, and specific learning style. After I finish introductions, I would start the teaching with a detailed break down of each concept the student doesn't fully understand followed by specific practice problems that we would work through together. To test the understanding of the student, I would then have them work through a few problems on their own before checking their work. If they were able to get them all correct, I would take a pause on teaching that concept for that session, and review it next session to ensure the information can be recalled for later use. Through this system I believe I can create a positive learning environment were the student feels safe to make mistakes and can not only learn mathematical concepts one time, but be able to recall them later in life. This method, along with my patience and my ability to explain difficult concepts, is what sets me apart as a tutor and is what makes me the perfect academic assistant for you. My lessons are for anyone 8 to 15 years-old (sophomore year) as I can teach arithmetic math along with pre-algebra, algebra one, and geometry.
