We learn theory at school but often the teachers don’t explain what this is relevant to in the real world. But this relevance is exactly why we study and educate our children, because we want them to be fully prepared for the real world. Did you know that the reflux practical technique also applies to when we cover the lid to boil our rice? Or that the acids we learn about in chemistry have chemical properties which we can dilute and use for our skincare? Small practical examples and contexts such as these which we can teach our children will help make these so called “challenging” concepts EASY! And that is what I do. I make everything I teach relevant and exciting, so the child has fun learning ALL the content without even realising they put any effort in!
Having received teaching from the best Grammar School in the United Kingdom, and having worked for the best tutoring centre company in the UK, I know exactly what great quality education is and I want to give my skill of teaching which I have been blessed with to the world! I feel every child is unique and important and do not give up until the child not only finishes the task, but fully understands it, and sees the same passion for the subject as I do!
This past year, as a Pharmacy student, I set myself the challenge of playing multiple roles in the society. With regards to my role as a pharmacy student, my main focus was to become the best future pharmacist possible, learning how to meet the three basic requirements to dispense any pharmaceutical product: the safety, efficacy and stability of medicines. My second role in the community was as a teacher, where I tutored and taught children of all ages in several institutions, including the UK tutoring company Explore Learning, as well as home tutoring GCSE and A level students. As well as this, I played the role of a Sunday School teacher for young kids at my local youth center where I also volunteered as a lecturer for teenage children and young adults on topics varying from philosophy to politics to motivational guidance.
As well as this, I worked as a Dispensing Assistant at a Pharmacy throughout the academic year in Solihull, England. In this community pharmacy, I gained hands-on experience with dispensing prescription medicines and compiling blister packs for the elderly in the local care home, applying the knowledge that I was learning in my university module Intrduction to the Practice of Pharmacy, and in the dispensing classes. I gained excellent communication skills directly in the context of a pharmacy environment, where I approached patients and customers with care and compassion, ensuring that they did not find any embarrassment in conveying their problems to me, and ultimately, the pharmacist. My roles as a pharmacy assistant here also included the dispensing and compounding of patient specific prescriptions, distribution and control of narcotic and controlled drugs and other inventory management tasks, prepackaging of unit doses and preparation of sterile pharmaceutical products. These blister packs were prepared for many elderly patients living in the care home right opposite the pharmacy. Several prescriptions came from the Solihull hospital next to the pharmacy, so I experienced working in a busy environment and got to learn how to provide quality service at a fast pace.
Classroom assistant at Dame Ellen Pinsent School: I spent my time here caring for children with special educational needs and ensuring they learnt what was required of them by the teacher, even if it meant going through great measures to make sure they understood and completed the work accurately. I really enjoyed the hands-on experience, being active and vigilant at all times to provide complete care for the students. I did this for one academic year.
Tutor at Explore Learning: Here, I managed and balanced my time tutoring children in a zone of six, ensuring each tutee got personal advice and help tailored to their learning methods, and completing reports of their progress. These children changed very regularly from day to day, so I liked to make sure I personally got to know the tutees, so they have a close and personal bond with me, full of trust so that they can ask me any questions they wish.
