About Trevor

I entered the teaching profession because I wanted to help students to transform their lives, improve their life chances and ensure a future that realised their hopes and dreams.

My first passion has always been in teaching Chemistry and Science. I have taught Chemistry and BTEC Science to students of all abilities at KS4 for over 30 years. I have taught 'A' Level Chemistry for ten years. I have been judged outstanding in all my many lesson observations for appraisal and by 7 OFSTED inspections throughout my teaching career. I received national recognition when awarded the Salter’s medal for ‘Teacher of the Year’ in Chemistry. I have always achieved outstanding results for the students I have taught in BTEC, GCSE and 'A' Level.

I am a highly effective coach who has been coaching pupils for many years. My coaching sessions are best summarised by my last OFSTED lesson observation where they stated that my lessons are characterised by:

'All students make rapid and sustained progress due to the proactive use of time. All Learning objectives and outcomes are well planned and used throughout the lesson to focus learning, stretching, and challenging all students.

I have consistently high expectations of students. Students learn exceptionally well acquiring knowledge, consolidating, developing, and deepening understanding rapidly. Students are actively involved throughout the lesson.

Excellent subject knowledge is used to plan so that challenge, engagement, imagination are features used to enthuse, motivate, and inspire students. There is a developed knowledge and understanding of the subject area related current exam practises. Extensive knowledge and understanding are used to adapt a range of teaching and learning including how to personalise learning so that all students achieve their potential.

Very well-targeted support for all students has enabled them to make the best of the opportunities provided. I systematically and effectively checks students’ understanding throughout sessions, anticipating where I may need to intervene, and I do so with notable impact on the quality of learning.,

I am a very experienced, enthusiastic and dedicated teacher, who always tries to realise a students true potential through coaching and mentoring. My sessions would be fun, challenging, interactive and based on the needs of the student. I would use my extensive knowledge of the science curriculum and exam techniques, in preparing students for their final examinations.
