About Ellie

Personally, I was classically trained, completing my degree in classical music. However, I have performed across a range of genres including musical theatre, operas, jazz, and being lead singer and keys player in professional rock bands. Therefore, I love exploring a variety of styles with my students. I love working with individuals to explore their chosen instrument and progress at a pace that suits them. I like to keep a healthy balance of technical training and fun in all of my lessons, and lesson plans are fully flexible to your personal preferences. Whatever you're looking to achieve, I would love to help you work towards it!

About the lesson

Hi there, my name is Ellie and I am an experienced vocal coach and piano teacher. I offer 1:1 lessons to all ages and abilities, in a wide range of genres, either to those working towards grades (ABRSM 0-8) or to those learning for fun. I have taught both singing and piano for the past 5 years, and set up my coaching company as a full time enterprise in 2021 and have loved building my student base to its current 60+ 1:1 students. I have taught students with a range of abilities, ages and goals; whatever it is that you are looking to achieve, we can tailor your lessons to suit! Vocal Coaching: I offer versatile singing lessons, using technical training as a basis for whatever genre you wish to enjoy, including classical, opera, pop, rock and musical theatre. Whether you are a complete beginner, or an experienced singer looking to take their training that next step further, it is my job to offer engaging lessons to ensure that you reach your goals. As mentioned, all of your lessons will include technical training, working on posture, breathing, range and strength. Together we will explore your voice, combining technical work with improving your confidence and style. Are you just starting out, maybe a little nervous? Do you want to see what potential your voice might have? We will put together a lesson plan that starts right from scratch, allowing you to explore your voice in a guided and supported way, going at your pace, and ensuring no damage is caused. Or... Do you have experience, and want to take your training further? We can do this together, perhaps working towards graded exams, or simply working on your vocal power, control and performance confidence. Or... Have you completed your grades and aren't sure what to do with your voice now? We can start on your post-grade 8 training, with more advanced technical vocal exercises, using your existing training as a springboard into your full potential! Piano Lessons: I offer piano lessons to musicians of all abilities, whether you are looking to learn for fun, or for graded exams, we will tailor your lessons to suit you! Whatever level you are at, we will use a range of exercises to help you build perfect posture, allowing you to use the entire piano, free of tension! Additionally, we can work through all of your music together, so that you have a real understanding of everything that is going on with the page in front of you! If you are a beginner, I know that learning to read music seems like the first big hurdle, but it really doesn't need to be - we will use a few easy to remember acronyms for learning to read music for both hands, whilst playing pieces from a range of different styles! My daughter took to Ellie instantly, she liked her positive interaction and 'can do' attitude to learning. Orla wanted to learn the piano her way, not anyone else's! Ellie listened and engaged, within a few weeks she had Orla deciding that she did want to do grades and was eager to practice to show Ellie how she was progressing. Within 6 months Ellie had Orla confident enough to perform on stage. A truly magnificent feat.
I can't recommend Ellie highly enough, she is committed, prompt, caring, and professional. She has always done what she said she would do and we trust her implicitly.

Every year she brings her students together for a live showcase in front of an audience which is an amazing opportunity. She has two middle names and owns a horse but is not actually posh at all.
