About Samantha
I am a PhD research student (Biology) at the University of Kent. Here, I am researching new enzymes in the electron transport chain that may be playing roles in antimicrobial resistance. The ultimate aim of this research is to assess the enzymes suitability as novel antibacterial drug targets. I previously completed my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science at the University of Surrey. This course involved a lot of Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry and Human Genetics. I also did a lot of scientific laboratory practicals and completed a year-long research project in my final year around drug resistance in tuberculosis. Previously, I have tutored my peers in various topics as I am a fast learner and possess the skill of delivering complex subjects across in the simplest manner possible for others to easily comprehend. I am very patient, creative, welcoming and is extremely passionate about a child's academic success; these are all qualities of an effective and successful tutor.

I plan to deliver tutoring lessons over Zoom/Skype which are very interactive and will allow us to remain socially distanced. I tend to familiarise myself with the syllabus/curriculum of the students that I am tutoring which will enable me to give lessons that are relevant and allow them to pass their exams. I also tend to have sessions for teaching the students about topics being learnt in class separately from "assisting with homework" sessions.
