About Sam
For two years I have been teaching ESL using English Literature because in my experience, it's the best way for student and learner to bridge from textual engagement to natural expression.
I studied English Lit at Concordia University, writing for film and television at Vancouver Film School, and am certified to teach English as a second language. I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
My passions are playing music and reading.

Hello, I'm Sam and I teach ESL through guided one-on-one reading practice of fiction and memoir.
My classes are designed for learners to expand their vocabulary, practice their pronunciation and listening, and begin expressing their thoughts and feelings in English.
We start by reading one page of a novel or memoir together and then we break down all of the vocabulary and grammar.
At the end of the class, you will read the page aloud by yourself and you will understand what you're saying!
My classes are ideal for learners who have been studying for a while but need practice speaking. I promise that no matter your English level, you will leave our session with greater understanding and confidence in your English.
