About Isabelle

I am from Queens, NYC and I'm a first year PhD student in Biophysics at the University of Chicago. For undergrad I went to Brandeis University through the STEM Posse Scholarship. I studied Biophysics in college, and earned a Bachelors in Science. I knew I wanted to be a scientist since high school, but I had no idea what the journey would look like until I started. I am passionate about bridging equity in the STEM fields and increasing representation and diversity. I love to build community wherever I am, and help those who are driven.

A little more about me, I just lived in Kyoto, Japan for a year where I conducted research through the Fulbright US-Japan Fellowship. There I was making swarming micro robots composed of biological proteins and DNA.

I am an experienced tutor and teacher: I have tutored privately for over 4 years and I have taught math to middle schoolers and lead many STEM related workshops and extracurricular programs. I have helped many high schoolers with SAT prep, physics, math, chemistry, essay writing and more.

It is a passion of mine to help motivated students and meet them where they're at, to support their short term and long term goals. I want to equip my experience as a student, teacher, mentor, and tutor, to help students from all ages, backgrounds, levels and goals!

About the lesson

My lessons will be personalized to meet your goals, and I will help you set short term and long term goals. We will have weekly check-ins at the start of our sessions, and will always reflect what works and what could be improved. I can prepare materials and assign tasks, such as sections of an SAT practice exam, or we can work through materials of your own. I can help practice and study for exams, review homework or labs, write internship or college applications, and so much more. I am always open to learning new ways to teach material or approach a new challenge, and I am confident I will be an effective tutor and mentor.
