About Ruth
Friendly and encouraging, I understand that learning is different for everyone and work with my students to find the best way for them. I am currently working part time in a secondary school and looking to supplement this work with some tutoring. I am fully DBS checked and experienced with pupils aged from 8 to 80!

A qualified teacher who has been teaching Music and English in an 'outstanding' secondary school for the past eleven years. I have experience of teaching Music up to A Level standard (currently I am teaching to the Edexcel A Level specification and AQA GCSE specification) and English at Key Stage 3 and 4, including core skills, comprehension and textual analysis based on the Eduqas specification. I am also able to offer private instrumental tuition for flute, clarinet and saxophone, as well as music theory tuition. This includes entering students for ABRSM practical and theory exams. I have tutored many students, and am very experienced. I am used to differentiating, tailoring my teaching resources for individuals and providing detailed feedback to help students. I have a detailed understanding of how students learn, and literacy is a key focus of mine so I will work with students to help them build their learning skills as well as their knowledge
