About Emma
I am a French teacher in a large school in London and am also head of year 13. I recently became head of Early Career Teachers where I lead their teaching development over the first two years of teaching. I am confident in rooting my teaching in pedagogy and love teaching French and German to students by changing my teaching approach to make lessons fun and enjoyable for all students.
I studied French at the University of Bristol and completed my teacher training at UCL. I have taught in London for 4 years and believe everyone can learn a language with the right approach. I also love music, running, and going to concerts or food festivals in my spare time.

With my experience as a current secondary school French teacher in London, my lessons can be tailored to each student’s needs and wants from learning from scratch to improving their ability in listening, speaking, reading and writing.
I have experience in teaching from age 7-18 years old and have taught adults for private French tuition as well. When tutoring adults, I tailored their language learning to their needs such as teaching French to a wine buyer who needed business French.
I can tailor my lessons to exam board specifications such as AQA and Edexcel as well as ensure the level of difficulty matches the age range and students’ requirements.
My lessons usually take 1 hour and are structured into 15 minute chunks of listening, reading, writing and speaking.
I also provide a general test when starting to gauge the language level and have varying assessment options to inform progress, depending on the student’s desire.
