Hi, I’m Suvithi Fernando, an English tutor specialising in intermediate and high school students, supporting learners from Years 7 to 12, with a strong focus on NCEA Levels 1 and 2. I help students develop their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills, and also support students in gaining the literacy credits required for University Entrance. My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual ability and learning style, helping them build confidence and improve their performance in assessments and exams. All lessons are delivered online, providing flexible and accessible learning from the comfort of home.
I am based in Auckland, North Shore, and have prior experience teaching English to both intermediate and high school students. I hold an NCEA Excellence endorsement in English, as well as Excellence endorsements in Business Studies and History, which strengthens my ability to teach structured, high-quality writing across subjects.
I also specialise in supporting students whose first language is not English, focusing on spoken English, vocabulary development, pronunciation, and clear communication in both academic and everyday contexts.
My teaching methodology combines interactive online learning, and personalised feedback, ensuring students are actively engaged and can apply their skills effectively. Lessons typically last 1 hour. I emphasise exam strategies, essay planning, critical analysis, and literacy skills, tailoring each session to the student’s current level, learning goals, and assessment requirements.
