About Asan

I am a native Mandarin speaker with a long background in education and cross-cultural communication, and I truly enjoy helping people connect through language. Over the years, I have taught learners from many different countries and age groups, which has helped me understand the challenges students face when learning Chinese. I want to teach because I believe language opens doors to new cultures, opportunities, and friendships. Seeing my students gain confidence and use Mandarin in real-life situations is what motivates me most as a teacher.

My Teaching Approach

I believe language learning should be practical, engaging, and confidence-building. My lessons focus on helping students use Chinese in real-life situations while building a strong foundation in pronunciation, vocabulary, and sentence structure. I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable speaking and making steady progress.

Teaching Methods & Techniques

I use a communicative and interactive approach, combining speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Depending on the student’s goals, lessons may include:

Conversational practice for real-life communication

Structured grammar and sentence pattern guidance

Pronunciation and tone correction

Role-plays and situational dialogues

Reading and writing practice (pinyin and characters)

Cultural insights to deepen understanding and interest

Every lesson is tailored to the student’s level, pace, and goals.

Lesson Length

A typical lesson is 60 minutes, allowing time for practice, feedback, and new learning. Shorter or longer lessons can be arranged if needed.

Qualifications & Experience

I am a native Mandarin speaker with over 20 years of teaching experience in language and communication. I hold a Certificate for Teachers of Chinese for Cross-Cultural Communication and a Certificate of Accreditation in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. My academic background in cross-cultural communication helps me explain language clearly and support learners from different cultural backgrounds.
