About Mark

Hello! My name is Mark and I am an experienced English and ESOL teacher from East Yorkshire.

I have more than 10 years of English-language teaching experience, including a decade living and teaching in South Korea. During my time there, I taught learners of different ages and abilities, from children and teenagers to adults. Living overseas also gave me first-hand experience of what it feels like to communicate and build a life in another language and culture.

I have a BA (Hons) degree from the University of York and hold CELTA, TEFL and PTLLS teaching qualifications. I am currently studying for a PGCE in Education, further developing my teaching practice in the UK.

My approach to teaching is friendly, patient and supportive. I believe people learn languages best when they feel comfortable enough to speak, experiment and make mistakes without being embarrassed. I enjoy getting to know my students and adapting lessons to their individual interests, goals and learning needs.

Whether you want to improve your everyday conversation, pronunciation, listening, grammar, confidence using English, or need English for life, work, study or travel, I would be very happy to help.

About the lesson

My lessons are friendly, practical and adapted to you. I have experience teaching children, teenagers and adults, so the lesson will depend on your age, level, interests and reasons for learning English.

For adult ESOL learners, we can focus on practical English for everyday life, conversation, work, travel or living in an English-speaking country. We can also work on speaking, listening, pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar depending on what you need.

For younger learners, I can provide structured and engaging lessons appropriate to their age and ability, with plenty of opportunities to practise using English rather than simply memorising rules.

Most importantly, I want my students to feel comfortable. Learning another language involves experimenting, asking questions and sometimes getting things wrong. Mistakes are a normal and useful part of learning, and you will never need to feel embarrassed about making them in my lessons.

Whether you are a beginner who needs confidence to start speaking or a more experienced learner who wants to improve particular areas of English, we can build the lessons around your individual goals.

Details

Teaching materials used during lessons are included in the lesson fee, with no additional charge. Online lessons are £22 per hour. For face-to-face lessons requiring travel, the stated travel fee may apply depending on location.
