About David

I taught for 25 years in the classroom. I took early retirement when COVID-19 closed the schools. Now I am available to help you and your kids feel better about math and science. These are difficult subjects for some people. I have learned over the years that the true job of a good teacher is that of translator. Subject mastery does not make you a good teacher. I take the time to find out how the student thinks and learns. I meet them where they are and guide them to a better understanding.

About the lesson

My teaching method can be described as informal and creative. I believe that every student has a unique way of comprehending the world. I try to learn what interests them and use what they know to help them understand the material. Once we have comprehension, I then teach them techniques that ensure the students can retain and recall that comprehension. Study skills are equally important to learning.

Perfect! Our first session with David was Amazing!!! My tenth grader told me at the end of the hour that Mr. David made things so easy to understand , that says a lot for Algebra 2 and Chemistry!! I really like how he took the time to get to know her and I feel like will he will be an awesome addition to her “team” . Our family looks forward to working with David closely in the future, we already have another tutoring session set up for tomorrow night. We will update as we go.

Zoe was a joy to work with. She was prepared, organized and knowledgeable. She does not need regular tutoring. She can benefit however from occasional sessions to increase her mastery of difficult content.

Details

I currently do not travel to homes, although I do receive students at my home. I mainly work via webcam on my computer with Zoom or Duo video call on cell phone. I offer free Homework help if the student simply needs a little push. I also offer to track students' progress in their classes, sending reminders and notices of missing work to the learner and their guardians.
