About Bohao

I am currently a first-year university student at McGill University with a strong enthusiasm for mathematics and a genuine passion for helping students who are struggling with the subject. I would really love the opportunity to share my way of learning and help students build both confidence and ability in math.

Having gone through the challenges of high school math myself, I understand how frustrating it can feel at times—and also how rewarding it becomes once things start to make sense. My goal is to help students improve step by step and achieve strong results, just as I did, by truly understanding the material instead of memorizing methods.

To me, math is not just a subject—it’s a way of thinking that becomes really satisfying once you get the hang of it. I want students to reach that point where they can look at a problem and feel confident about how to approach it.

In our sessions, I also like to keep things relaxed and friendly. We can have open discussions, ask questions freely, and even talk through different ways of thinking about problems so learning feels less stressful and more engaging.

With the right guidance and support, I truly believe every student can improve, gain confidence, and even start to enjoy math.

About the lesson

My approach as a tutor focuses on ensuring students develop a deep understanding of the material before moving on to problem-solving practice. I believe that without a strong foundation, simply doing large amounts of questions can lead to frustration and reduced motivation when mistakes happen. On the other hand, when students fully understand the logic and reasoning behind a topic, they approach each question with confidence and are more likely to experience consistent success, which builds motivation and encourages further learning.

Rather than emphasizing memorization or repetitive practice alone, my goal is to help students understand the underlying concepts and methods so they can confidently handle any variation of a problem, regardless of its format or difficulty.

In my teaching, I explain concepts from the ground up, starting with the simplest ideas and gradually building toward more advanced applications. I also create my own practice questions tailored to the student’s level, which helps me identify and target their specific weaknesses while reinforcing their understanding.

My lessons are intended for Grade 8 to Grade 12 students, covering all levels of high school mathematics, including foundational math, algebra, functions, and more advanced topics depending on the student’s needs.
