About Rebecca
I have spent over eight years helping students of all ages and skill levels discover the incredible joy of playing the piano. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Collaborative Piano and Chamber Music, which taught me how to connect deeply with other musicians. In my teaching practice, I offer highly personalized lessons that focus on pop piano arranging, modern chord voicings, and learning to play popular songs by ear.
My teaching style is supportive, engaging, and tailored to fit your specific goals, whether you are a beginner, intermediate player, or working toward mastery. We can explore a wide variety of fun styles together, including pop, rock, rhythm and blues, and contemporary worship. I believe that learning should always feel rewarding and fit your personal musical tastes.
I remember working with an adult student who could read sheet music perfectly but wanted to play their favorite pop songs at parties without looking at a page. We worked on recognizing chord progressions by ear and using simple modern patterns to fill out the sound. Within a few months, they were confidently improvising beautiful arrangements of popular tunes for their friends and family.
I make sure our studio is a safe and encouraging space where you can ask questions and progress at your own pace. Every lesson is designed to build your confidence and give you practical skills you can use immediately. My lessons integrate modern technology and digital tools to expand your creative possibilities beyond the traditional keyboard. We will dive into music technology for pianists, including how to get the most out of digital pianos, synthesizers, and software programs. I also teach basic recording techniques and how to use digital audio workstations to capture your performances.
This approach works wonders for highly skilled classical pianists and exceptionally gifted young students who want to explore modern electronic sounds. For example, I recently worked with a classical student who wanted to perform in a modern band but had no experience with electronic keyboards. We set up a simple synthesizer layout, mapped out their favorite orchestral sounds, and showed them how to control effects live during a performance.
They quickly learned to blend their classical technique with modern electronic sounds and absolutely loved the process. I am fully committed to supporting you as you branch out into these exciting new musical areas. We will work step by step to ensure you feel entirely comfortable handling electronic gear and recording software.
