About Mica

I’m a dedicated tutor with over eight years of experience in education, supporting students with a range of needs, including Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. This background has shaped my passion for teaching and my belief that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed, no matter their starting point or individual challenges. My teaching journey began in roles where I helped students overcome barriers to learning, and it was there that I discovered the joy of breaking down complex ideas into steps that anyone can understand. Supporting students to build their confidence, develop resilience, and realise their potential has always been at the heart of what I do. I became a teacher because I truly believe in the transformative power of education. It’s incredibly rewarding to see students gain not just knowledge but also the skills and self-assurance to thrive academically and beyond. My goal is to create a supportive, engaging learning environment where every student can achieve their best.

About the lesson

I offer online maths tutoring for primary school children, with a particular focus on preparing Year 6 pupils for their SATs and the 11+ exams. As a former Year 6 teacher with extensive experience guiding students through SATs and 11+ preparation, I understand the curriculum, the challenges pupils face, and the strategies needed to succeed. My lessons are tailored to each child’s needs, breaking down challenging topics into manageable steps and helping them build confidence in their skills. For Year 6 students, I focus on key areas tested in SATs, including arithmetic, reasoning, and problem-solving. For those preparing for the 11+, I help develop skills in verbal and non-verbal reasoning, alongside core maths concepts and exam techniques. I aim to make learning engaging and approachable, helping children connect new topics to what they already know while building their confidence and ability to apply their knowledge in a variety of contexts. If your child could benefit from extra support in maths, SATs, or 11+ preparation, I’d be happy to help them work towards their goals in a calm and encouraging environment.
