About Ella

Music has been my lifelong passion, and I have spent the last seven years helping students discover the full potential of their voices. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with a special focus on Lieder and Art Song. However, my teaching specialty lies in guiding jazz and blues singers through the exciting world of vocal improvisation.

In my studio, we break down complex techniques like scat singing and melodic embellishment to make them easy to understand. I believe that great improvisation requires a strong foundation. Because of this, my lessons offer a balanced mix of ear training, scale study, and chord theory application.

I remember working with a rock vocalist who wanted to try jazz but struggled to break away from the written melody. Together, we used simple blues scales to help them build their very own improvisational voice. I tailor my instruction to match the specific goals of every individual student, no matter their current skill level. We work hard on technical control, stage presence, and deep musical understanding so you can perform with total confidence.

About the lesson

My lessons focus on building strong ensemble skills and making sure every singer finds their place in a group. We dive deep into choral singing, vocal blending, and part singing so everyone learns how to listen while they perform. I also teach sight reading for choirs, which helps students pick up new sheet music much faster.

Many of my students come from different musical worlds. I often work with instrumentalists who want to sing and commercial artists looking to adapt to a group setting. For instance, I recently helped a classical violinist transition into a community choir by teaching them how to match the vocal colors around them.

We practice blending our voices until the entire group sounds like one single, powerful instrument. I guide everyone on how to hold their own vocal line while staying completely in tune with the singers next to them. This balanced training gives you the confidence to become a truly valuable choir member. My goal is to support every student so they can excel and feel proud of their contribution to the performance.
