About Mary

I am a former successfuly Math Teacher and Tutor for students in MS or HS. I have 21 years experience in teaching Arithmetic, Algebra or Geometry in classrom or tutoring . My target is to make my students to love Math and be successful in classroom , or taking tests . I have experience to adapt my lessons to grade level and different learning styles of my students. I'm available most of the time when the kid needs me .

I believe that a good Math reasoning is a "must" for a critical thinking and a necessary tool for life.

Teaching was what I always want to do ; I love kids and to make a difference in their life; my Mom was also Math Teacher , she was my role model, and I work hard to excel in school and to become teacher.

About the lesson

For starting - a short test to assess the level of knowledge in math .

Next , is creating a plan to recover what was lost in learning and setting the steps for progress. Any meeting will have checks for homework, notebook, and of course answers of student's questions related to the topics.

I use to have all level in learning students, 10 to 15 years old.

I use to adapt my methods to their understanding but always looking for a higher step to higher level.

My students have succeded in school, achiving results at Math Olimpiada, or exams in their school.

I would ask who wants a tutor, he/she, or the family, because him / her will have a lot of work to do, and commitment and serious engagement.

I'm a private person, I don't have a public life.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They should ask themselves whether they were attentive during math class in school, whether they know to look up in their textbooks.

I use to show them from the start how to find themselves some answers using the computer, notes or manuals,

but also I will explain what is hard for them to understand.

Of course, I would try to make them very responsible for what they know and what they need.
