About Nathan
With a PhD in Physics and more than 10 years of teaching and tutoring experience, I help students build confidence and mastery in Physics, Mathematics, Astronomy, and STEM subjects. I have taught and mentored students at every level—from middle school and high school to college, university, and research programs—and I will soon be joining St. John's School in Houston as a Physics teacher.
I work with students pursuing stronger grades, AP/IB success, university coursework, competition preparation, research projects, or simply a deeper understanding of STEM. Whether you're struggling with fundamentals or tackling advanced topics, I tailor lessons to your goals and current level.
A typical lesson begins by identifying what you already understand and where you're getting stuck. We then work through concepts using clear explanations, visual models, real-world examples, and guided problem-solving before practicing independently. My goal is to help you think through problems confidently rather than memorize procedures.
What sets me apart is the breadth of my teaching experience. I've taught university physics laboratories, lectured on astrophysics, mentored high school research students, tutored mathematics and physics in academic support centers, and worked with students from many different backgrounds and learning styles. These experiences have taught me how to explain difficult ideas in multiple ways and adapt quickly to individual students.
My teaching style is patient, interactive, and highly personalized. I use proven, research-based methods that emphasize active learning, discussion, and frequent feedback, helping students develop lasting understanding, stronger problem-solving skills, and greater independence as learners.

My lessons are designed for students who want to strengthen their understanding, improve grades, prepare for exams, or challenge themselves with advanced STEM topics. I work with middle school, high school, AP/IB, college, and university students, as well as motivated learners pursuing enrichment, research projects, or independent study.
Subjects I teach include:
• Physics (high school through advanced undergraduate topics)
• Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I–III, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra)
• Astronomy and Astrophysics
• Probability and Statistics
• Scientific Programming (Python, MATLAB, Mathematica, and computational problem-solving)
Each lesson is tailored to the student's goals, background, and learning style. We begin by identifying what concepts are clear, where difficulties arise, and what outcomes the student wants to achieve. From there, I combine direct instruction, guided problem-solving, visual explanations, discussion, and practice problems to build both conceptual understanding and technical skills.
My teaching approach is shaped by more than a decade of experience as a tutor, university laboratory instructor, teaching assistant, lecturer, and research mentor. I have taught physics laboratories, mathematics and physics tutorials, astrophysics lectures, coding-based research projects, and one-on-one mentorship programs for both high school and university students. Working with learners from many different backgrounds has taught me that there is no single best way to learn a subject.
As a result, I adapt my lessons to the individual student. Some students learn best through worked examples, others through visual models, discussion, experimentation, or hands-on problem solving. My role is to find the approach that works best for you, provide clear structure and feedback, and help you develop the confidence and independence needed to succeed long after the lesson ends.
