About Sabrina
I offer in-person tutoring for chemistry for middle school, high school and college prep. I have a Bachelors in Chemistry from an esteemed private liberal art college with a focus in analytical chemistry and organic chemistry. I have scored 800 in SAT II Chemistry and can teach and prepare the student for that score for college acceptance. For grades 6-8 I can also teach other sciences as well as geography.
Please contact me via email - (concealed information) or call me at (concealed information) Based on requirement and travel I will charge anywhere between $30-$70/hr.
Thanks,
Sabrina
I do not teach by profession, however, in my job, I have trained fresh college graduates, or employees or did not know how to use certain laboratory instruments, etc. I am always teaching and always learning at work. I feel like I am teacher in heart, however, I have pursued other career interests.
I have a B.A. in Chemistry from Bard College, NY. I have also tutored students in my high school years as well as a freshman in college. As a senior in college, I was also seeked out to assist freshman or sophomore students with the chemistry problems or homework.
During my senior year I was the teacher's assistant to Advanced Organic Synthesis Lab.

I first, through quizzes and presenting problems, identify at which level they are in on the subject/topic. I also try to understand what they already know, and how they learned it, to get an example of teaching methods that works with particular student.
I have mostly worked with students who just needed some attention and help with homework. However, I have experience working with one student who had a learning disability, was diagnosed with ADHD and had hearing problem. It was bit of a challenge at first, however, once i identified the teaching methods and tactics that work, I was able to get this student from receving 0/100 points in math, to 100/100 points. I am not truly not exagerating and his parents still speak of me to this day.
In 2019, I was hired to build a lab from scratch for a contract manufacturing company. Once the lab was fairly established, I needed chemists to operate the equipment and laboratory instruments. I was not part of the hiring process and was given an employee who had background in biology, and no background in operating any of the instruments that we were using in the lab. One such instrument was the HPLC. After hiring him, I got busy training him from scratch about HPLCs. That included teaching him the basics, the theory, the chemistry behind the analysis, the instrument itself, and several months of errors and corrections of mistakes. In 2021, we were having an issue with one of the HPLC's and I was really stumped on fixing it. One morning I come into work, and he informs me the HPLC is fixed and it's running smoothly. He then went on to explain me what he did to fix the instrument, as well as parting with me knowledge and information that I did not know about the HPLC. He was then teaching me and I was learning from him. I was so happy to see and hear this, and I will always remember this exchange.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
I had reached out in desperate need of a tutor as I was failing my chemistry class. Not only did I receive an almost instant response, but we were able to meet with super short notice to hit the ground running. I can't stress enough how patient and thorough this tutor is, ensuring I understood the material forward and backwards before entering each class. Going from completely failing to earning above average grades, if it wasn't for this amazing tutor I would not have been able to succeed in my chemistry class. If you are in the same position I was in, do not hesitate to reach out as you will truly thank yourself later!

After identifying the level of the student, I prepare a customized teaching plan that I will use over the time period. I will also prepare exams and quizzes to ascertain the progress the student has made and identify any other weak points.
